New axles are machined on our premises. Qualified axles are downsized or restored to proper dimensions by machining journals and wheel seats.

Wheel Boring
Calder Rail precision machining capabilities include the boring of wheels from 18" to 52" for locomotive and freight wheel sets incorporating stringent OEM standards for critical tolerances and surface finish requirements.




Mounting
Calder Rail mounting capabilities include all types of locomotive and freight car wheel assemblies.

Contouring Wheels
Full flange contouring of wheel assemblies is performed on our Simmon - Niles 52 inch CNC wheel lathe.

Quality Assurance
Quality control of all processes, component parts and instrumentation ensures precision AAR certified wheel sets (bearings, axles and wheels).
